Han Song – Corean & Seafood Buffet.

Tonight was the Grand Opening of Han Song, a Corean & Seafood Buffet. Open to a select few by invitation only, I had a chance tonight to try out the foods at this establishment. Now for those who don’t know me, food is my passion. Quality + Quantity. With ‘All You Can Eats’ being my specialty, this review is legit. Getting kicked out of a few places and beating records are my thing :) So if you’re a lover of foods like me, you’ll want to know how good this new Corean & Seafood buffet is! Located right by Olympic & Alvarado in Corea-Town(LA). The place is small, maybe big enough for a small reception. The main food station runs across like a snake straight in to the back starting from the entrance area. It’s really annoying because everyone has to get into one line in order to grab food. Besides the ONE food station, there is a dessert station and a rice/porridge/salad station. The dessert staion consists of fruit and small pasteries(Not much of a selection) and a half softserve/plain tart yogurt machine. No swirl, I checked.
Going back to the food station, there are a few “bottle necks” standing in the customers’ way. First is the Sushi section, Second is the Pasta section and Third, the “Chinese/Corean” section. You’re most likely to be stuck in these sections for a good 3-5 mins before the line starts moving up again. These bottle necks are conviently placed in the begining, middle and end of the food station. Not many people cut lines but when you’re waiting on 3 people to grab their pasta from the cooks, you have no choice but to skip some goodies and hope you can come back later for them. Whoever designed this place was a genius~ The food itself was okay. I would definately skip out on the sushi because it’s tasteless as well as any other seafood there with the exceptions of the oyster, coconut shrimp, and shrimp in chilli sauce. And ONLY when they’re fresh out the kitchen. Otherwise, this is the OCB(Old Country Buffet) of Corean/Seafood buffets~ I’d have the say the only food I enjoyed was the roast beef and squash porridge.
The dessert selection was weak, but fairly decent. You’re usual fruits, rasberry mousse, mini tarts, crème brûlée, softserve and frozen yogurt. I tried everything but the softserve, and they were good enough to get seconds… or in my case thirds and some fourths.
Did I mention hairs were found in our meals? Not necessarily my plates, but hairs found in the softserve and the rasberry mousse. Two people from our table of four had hair in their food. GROSS! We mentioned it to the waitress(?) and all she said was sorry and walked away.
So leaving this not so great experience at the buffet, the valet were nowhere to be found. We ended up grabbing the keys and going to the car ourselves while many patrons were waiting outside hoping to find a valet around. I left the buffet unsatisfied, and gave the buffet a rating of: D-
Dinner is around $26. Total waste of money if you ask me~ They need to fix all the problems, hopefully this was just a test run and they’re fixing these problems now.
