What’s going on Corea? You know R-16 is just around the corner and with the solo eliminations going down on the 13th of May, you need to get all your preparations in order. Get yourself over to Daegu where you’ll be battling for $1000, a chance to rep Corea at R-16 Corea World Finals as well as the UK Bboy Championships! “The concept of RESPECT is the everlasting theme of this massive 5 day event as over 300 artists, musicians, grassroots content creators, promoters, producers, urban enthusiasts, hip hop heads and bboys from around the world convene in Korea, in an attempt to provide the proper inspiration needed to push the movement forward. What started out as a World Championships level bboy tournament has now evolved into a massive annual festival that seeks to encompass all aspects of Urban Youth Cultures and the Urban Arts. The festival draws visitors and spectators not only from Korea but form all the different regions of Asia and the world.

The R-16 World Bboy Championships & Urban Arts Festival was created in 2007 as a grand experiment to see if through the support of the government and a nation as a whole, youth created grassroots cultures like Hip Hop and Bboying can become a profitable and self sustaining industry that can embed itself within society and culture and maintain relevance in the minds of the mainstream and mass media here in Korea and the rest of the World. Through the generous support of the Korea Tourism Organization, and the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, a World Class festival and World Bboy Championships has been designed to celebrate and demonstrate the power of youth and the positive possibilities a gathering of this nature can create. We can show through this event and our through our dedication and passion, that while the rest of the world is embroiled in conflicts caused by prejudice and an inability to overcome their differences, we have come to settle our differences, unite ourselves and DANCE.”
