R-16 KOREA x KANGOL 2010 WARM-UP PARTY

OUTLINE
A warm-up party will be held with KANGOL, the official R-16 sponsor. All participating R-16 artists, including MCs, DJs, b-boys, b-girls, poppers, lockers and graffiti artists will join the party,and there will also be fantastic showcases by specially invited b-boy crews and globally renowned DJs.

R16 KOREA 2010 POPPING & LOCKING FINAL ELIMINATION

A contest will be held to determine the final 2 spots to compete in the Round of 16 Popping and Locking Battles during the R16 World Finals.  This final preliminary contest will be held at the R16 Warm-up Party on July 2nd, 2010.  This Popping & Locking Battle prelim will be open only to foreign nationals and registration will close on July 1st, 2010.

Oil Can Boyd:
According to ‘10 Magazine’ Artist/DJ/Producer Oilcan Boyd is Seoul’s #1 Hip Hop DJ. A fanatic for making mixtapes at an early age; obsession evolved into a thorough selection of funky music for your party’s pleasure. Specializing in Hip Hop, Funk, Neo Soul, and Classic Soul Oilcan Boyd cooks a mean mashup. A progeny of house parties, Toronto’s lounge scene and now Seoul Korea’s few distinct Hip Hop DJs; Oilcan Boogie is no joke.

Nuphonique:
First and foremost an appreciator and collector of sound. Soon there after: an independent music producer, multi-instrumentalist, live electronic musician, sound manipulator , aspiring audio engineer, former radioshow host, DJ and all around dance floor catalyst. The art of sampling, beatmatching and all around effects tweaking have pulled him into the electronic dimension, where he spends the rest of his days sweating above over-heating samplers and accelerating turntables.

From Los Angeles, CA, Dumbfoundead started rapping at 14. He is a member of Project Blowed (Aceyalone) Swim Team, and Thirsty Fish. Known for his super freestyle abilities, Grind Time battle numerous wins, and his you tube channel getting up to over 1,000,000 hits. He recently worked with Jay Park, Epik High, and is currently doing a project album with MYK.

DJ ZO:
From Los Angeles, CA, DJ/Producer/Mixing Engineer for Dumbfoundead. Recently toured with Abstarct Rude. DJ ZO is the new, new school of scratch/turtablism DJs. Known for his incredibly skills in scratching. Has shared scratch sessions with many DJ’s worldwide including DJ Qbert and D-Styles.

MYK:
Hybrid hip hop musician/emcee from the bay area California, currently working in Seoul Korea with the local scene’s “Movement” crew. Honorary member of Epik High, MYK has produced beats for, and featured with artists such as Epik High, Dynamic Duo, Rakka Irisscience of Dilated Peoples, Kero One and Dumbfoundead. Influenced more by american and korean underground hip hop, than mainstream rap.
