In the beginnings of bboying, before competitions, a bboy would secretly make a battle invitation to his rival, and they would agree to meet at a time and place. Then both of them would bring their entire crew, and meet at an underground party with one mission, to find each other in the cyphers… and battle!

Secret Cypher battles- (No rules, No stage, No time limits, No judges)

The best of the best, battling against each other, cipher styles, the way it used to be, when bboying was still at its rawest form.

Best 1 on 1 Cypher Battle of the night (W50,000 each)

Event Objective:

This event is a special fundraiser. All proceeds will go to the “ Project Pinoy B-boy Mission”

-A heart of a Hero mission to reach out and spread love and knowledge to the Bboys in the Philippines. For many, every day is a challenge for survival for those who have almost nothing but their love for breakin’.

The Mission:

Not many peoples are aware of the humble beginnings of hip hop back in the late 60′s and early 70′s in the Bronx and Brooklyn. At that time, the community was divided within itself and segregated from the rest of society. They were the forgotten, left to policing themselves which brought about a place of gangs, drugs, and ruins. There was a feeling of hopelessness in the people who had nothing to live for and nothing to do, until the famous blocks parties (i.e DJ Kool Herc) began… first starting with two turntables playing ‘the break’ as they called it, which would create an atmosphere where all peoples in the community could come together, and freely express themselves; of which included the old, the young, even the gangsters. Hip hop has in many ways been misused as a a commodity fetish to profit from negative connotations and associations of gangster appeals. However the true beginnings of hip hop were humble and freeing and uplifting, while being able to combat others with skills which eventually evolved into the four main elements (turntablism, Mcin’, Graff, and ofcourse Bboyin’ which is still persistant. and growing internationally even today.

The purpose of this event is to raise funds for the “Project Pinoy Bboy Mission”. Where volunteering world established bboys and volunteers will be able to go to the socio-economically abject parts of Philippines; to teach, train and coach the not so fortunate Bboys (whom already exist) the ways of the warrior bboy, and ways in which to live off of the dance. The goal after teaching the various bboys and crews is to hold a final event that will in hopes to promote a spark in for the different communities to come together as one and provide an oppurtunity for the bboys to earn money through battling. In the Phillipines breakin’ is a form of release, yet has not been maintained, nor organized where it can be used to benefit the dancers. In igniting this spark, we hope the sharing of bboying history, knowledge, and culture of the dance will help to build a strong sense of growth and objective. In this light we hope to ignite a greater sense of support between segregated communities, and an appreciation to this liberating art form. Perhaps Bboys in the Phillipines can rely on this dance to give back to their families, and communities, and form and maintain an alliance.

Come and see bboying/breakin at its original essence, the way it used to be! All proceeds will go to the charity mission project in the Philippines!

최 초로 비보이 대회가 열리기 전, 비보잉이 막 생겨났을때는 한 비보이가 남들몰래 라이벌에게 베틀신청을 했다. 그러면 둘은 날짜와 장소를 정해 대결을 하였다. 양쪽 다 자신의 크루를 데리고 한가지 미션수행-사이퍼에서 만나 베틀을 하기-를 위해 언더그라운드 파티에 나타났다.

비공식 싸이퍼 베틀은 규칙도, 무대도, 시간제한도, 심사도 없다. 처음 비보잉이 시작되었을때처럼, 싸이퍼에 나타나서 베틀을 하여 최고를 가린다.

베스트 1대1 싸이퍼 베틀러에게는 1인당 5만원이 주어진다.

가끔씩 밤에 아래와 같은 베틀을 찾을 수 있다. 하지만 베틀을 경험하기 위해서는 당신은 직접 싸이퍼가 열리는 장소로 와야만 한다!

행사목적:

이번 행사는 자선기금을 마련하기위해 열립니다. 모든 수익은 “프로젝트 피노이 비보이 미션”에 쓰입니다.

프 로젝트의 가장 큰 목적은 필리핀비보이들에게 비보잉에 담신 사랑의 정신과 비보잉관련지식을 전하는 것입니다. 필리핀의 많은 댄서들은 극한의 생활고에 시달리며 매일이 삶을 위한 전쟁과 같습니다. 하지만 그들의 비보잉을 향한 사랑만큼은 남다릅니다.

미션:

60 년대와 70년대 초반 브롱스와 브루클린에서 잔잔하게 시작된 힙합에 대해 알고 있는 사람은 많지 않을 것입니다. 그 당시에 힙합커뮤니티는 자체적으로도 분열되어 있었고, 사회에서도 고립되어 있었습니다. 그들은 잊혀진 존재였고 갱단과 마약, 버려진 거리로 내몰렸습니다. 잘 알려진 블럭파티 (예:DJ Kool Herc)가 시작되기 전까지 해야 할 일도 살아야 하는 이유도 없었던 사람들 사이에는 절망감이 퍼져있었습니다. 두 대의 턴터이블로 ‘브레이크’를 플레이하는 것에서 시작된 파티는 이웃주민들이 모두 모여 자유롭게 스스로를 표현할 수 있는 분위기를 만들었습니다. 여기에는 노인, 어린이, 그리고 갱단멤버들까지도 포함되어 있었습니다. 여성의 성을 상품화 하여 이익을 챙기거나 갱단을 우상화 시키는 이미지등 지금까지 힙합은 여러가지로 남용되었습니다. 하지만 진짜 힙합은 우리의 일상에서 잔잔하게 그리고 자유롭고, 사기를 돋구어주는 것에서 시작되었습니다. 동시에 상대방과 기술로써 맞서 싸울수 있는 길을 터주었습니다. 이것이 점점 발달되어 힙합의 4대 요소로 불리는 턴테이블리즘, 엠씨잉, 그래피티, 그리고 비보이입니다. 지금까지도 이어지며 국제적으로 성장해 나가고 있는 요소들입니다.

이번 행사의 목적은 “프로젝트 피노 비보이 미션”을 위한 자선기금마련입니다. 자원봉사단들과 비보이들이 함께 사회적으로나 경제적으로 고립된 필리핀의 촌지역데 가서, 현지 사람들에게 비보잉을 가르치고 함께 연습하며 힘든 환경에 처해 있는 필리핀 비보이들에게 댄서로써의 길을 열어주기 위해서입니다. 현지 비보이와 크루들에게 테크닉적인 요소들을 가르쳐 주고 난 뒤, 이번 미션의 마지막 목표는 비보이 대회를 열어서 여러 지역 사람들이 한데 어울릴 기회를 마련하며 현지 비보이들이 베틀을 참가하며 프로 비보이로써 생활 할 수 있는 기반을 마련해 주는 것입니다. 지금 필리핀에서는 브레이킨이 알려져 있기는 하지만 지속되지 않고 있으며 댄서들을 위한 기반이 전혀 잡혀있지 않습니다. 새로운 기회의 불꽃을 밝혀주며, 비보잉 역사와 지식 그리고 댄스 문화를 나누며 그들의 지속적인 성장과 목표의식을 기원합니다. 이러한 취지하에 고립되어 있는 지역들이 서로 협조하며 비보잉을 하나의 예술문화로써 인식하길 바랍니다. 마지막으로 필리핀 현지 비보이들이 춤을 통해 그들 얻은 것들을 가족과 지역사회 그리고 비보잉씬에 돌려주며 지속적으로 유지시켜나가질 바랍니다.
