Giant Robot is proud to host the Los Angeles receptions and book signings with Heather Shouse, author of Food Trucks.

With food truck fever sweeping the nation, Shouse launched a coast-to-coast exploration of street food. In Food Trucks, she gives readers a page-by-page compass for finding the best movable feasts in America. From decades-old pushcarts to massive, gleaming mobile kitchens, the intrepid journalist identifies more t…han 100 chowhound pit stops that are the very best of the best. Serving up everything from slow-smoked barbecue ribs to escargot puffs, with authentic eats from virtually every corner of the globe represented in brilliant detail, Food Trucks highlights portable and affordable detour-worthy dishes and puts to rest the notion that memorable meals can only be experienced in lofty towers of haute cuisine.

On May 1, Giant Robot will be Food Trucks’ official bookseller at Cochon 555, the red-hot touring event in which five world-class chefs are given five days to come up with dishes for a pork battle. The Los Angeles stop will take place at Vibiana, and Shouse will be in attendance to meet fellow food freaks and sign her book.

On May 4, Shouse will be joined at GR2 by L.A.’s post-Korean food truck juggernaut Kogi, the up-and-coming Vietnamese cuisine specialist Mandoline Grill, and possible surprises. She will be signing books while the trucks sell signature items for an evening that celebrates street eats.

Giant Robot was born as a Los Angeles-based magazine about Asian, Asian-American, and new hybrid culture in 1994, but has evolved into a full-service pop culture provider with shops and galleries in Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as an online equivalent.
