Review | Retrona Pies

Pies. If you’ve been in Corea as long as I have, you should be craving it by now. It’s no grannies’ apple pie but the best pie in town is right around the corner from Desert Pizza. One block down and around to be exact. Thanks to my friend Bri who took me to this magical place last year, I stop by about twice a month. It’s also on my way to work so it’s awesome. I can get pie before and after work. I’ve been meanign to review this place months ago but I really don’t know what happened~ ^^ Anyway, here’s the full review! It’s pretty well hidden, if you saw my Desert Pizza review, you’ll have to stop for some pizza before heading over here to Retrona Pies! ^^ It’s my routine most of the time I’m in the area. Anyway, It’s about a block and a half down, maybe 500m? Then turn left into this alley where the jazz bar is and you’ll see it right in front of you! Can’t miss it! If you don’t see it past the alley you’re walking through, you’re going down the wrong alley… although I suppose you could walk through then at the next street you could find it~ ^^ Anyway, this place is amazing and very cute! And need I say, retro? Decorated with old posters, album covers, cameras and turntables errr, phonographs~ It gives it a nice touch to the vibe and atmosphere. The staff are awesome, and they actually just hired 2 new workers about 3 weeks ago. Yes, I frequent this place quite often. Definitely in my top 3 places to go in Seoul! The pies are just so scrumptious! Some literally melt in your mouth. They also have a small bakery so you can buy tasty breads and baked goods but the pies. Now the pies are what’s up! You need to go before 15h(3PM) in order to actually have a chance of grabbing from a variety of pies. It sells fast and they don’t do many batches. If you’re there past let’s say 16h, you’ll only get to choose from like 3-4 pies that are left. Trust me, I’ve made the mistake of going late but…. I can’t complain~ ALL the pies are good, I’ve tried them all. My favourite is the Banana Crunch Pie! Mmmmm, it’s like a smooth banana creme pie with a crunchy, flaky centre and pie breading on the bottom. And you have carmalized bananas and 무화과…. I don’t know what that is in English~ And I doubt many people eat it in America Land~ Hahaha anyway, it’s to die for. Trust me on this one folks. I know my foods. The Apple Canelle is amwazing, yes, AMWAZING! Take your classic apple pie, then make it a million times better. You get the Apple Canelle at Retrona Pies! They also have a great selection of FRESH SQUEEZED fruit juice, like grapefruit! Or try the Royal Milk Tea! It’s really good~ Enough talk guys, you don’t want to read this, go try this pie! I guarantee you’ll love it. GET ON IT!
